Golden State Warriors: 2017 NBA Champions!

Congratulations to the Golden State Warriors for winning the 2017 NBA Championship, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers last night 129 – 120 in a game that the Warriors controlled beginning in the second quarter.  While the Cavaliers were valiant in defending its championship, the Warriors just had too much firepower lead by Kevin Durant.  Durant was selected Finals MVP, and was emotional as he celebrated his first championship defeating his long time nemesis LeBron James.

The Warriors is poised to be a force for years to come lead by Durant, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.  The team has a plethora of talent that is unmatched in the NBA.  While the Cavaliers should be formidable moving forward, the teams salary cap situation makes it difficult to make major changes as it attempts to upgrade.  James probably has 2 to 3 peak years left, but all of the Warriors core is under 30 years old and hungry.  LeBron James and Kyrie Irving will need to be at their A++++++ best to compete with the Warriors in the future.  The Cavaliers are close, but a bench upgrade is needed in the worst way as it competes for future championships.
