Phil Jackson, President of Basketball Operations for the New York Knicks is the owner of 13 championship rings and arguably the greatest basketball coach in history. Jackson has been in the news this week with his openness about trading prized forward Kristaps Porzingis. Porzingis, presumably not happy with the dysfunction of the Knicks blew off his exit interview to the ire of Jackson. Jackson has thus decided to put his forward on notice that he’s indeed disposable to the organization.
If Phil Jackson is willing to tell star forward Carmelo Anthony, who has a no trade clause in his contract, that he should find another team, dealing with the 21 year-old Porzingis is child’s play. Phil Jackson is the master of mind games, and while he’s done a horrible job running the Knicks organization, he just don’t care what the media has to say about his performance. In his mind, his basketball legacy is secure.
