Ice Cube’s brainchild, the BIG3 3-on-3 league debuted yesterday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The BIG3 features NBA legends such as Allen Iverson playing 3 -on- 3 basketball. The issue for the league based on this report from the New York Post is that the participants are now old. Iverson admitted that he hasn’t played basketball in 7 years. Yesterday’s action will be replayed tonight on FS1 in a condensed version as the games took an estimated 6 hours before a crowd of over 15,000 people.
With veterans such as Jason Williams and Corey Magette going down with injuries, the 10 week league could come down to a game of attrition. Iverson has stated he will not be playing major minutes, so it’ll be interesting to see if the BIG3 league will have a second season.
